English 1302

English 1302 was awesome. I am really not an English type of person like I mentioned it in my about me section, but I really enjoyed the course. I had never before liked an English class because of all the essays I had to write. I enjoyed this course because Mrs. Wood made it fun for us. She helped us like and explained every single thing we did in class in such a good way. I loved this class and I also loved the fact that we did not have to write so many essays, and that our tests were open book. I also enjoyed the stories, poems, and plays we read throughout the class. I really enjoyed the class even though it was so early in the morning I never felt sleepy like I usually had in other classes I had taken that early before. I am honestly going to miss Mrs. Wood as my professor and the class.

Fiction paper

Well like I had planned I decided to write my fiction paper over the story, “Where Are You Going, Where HaveYou Been.” I decided to take a pschological aproach to it. Honestly I found it very difficult to write my essay. I keept runing out of  ideas to talk about, and well honestly I did not enjoy doing any of the reasearch. I did enjoy the story though is just that when I did the reasearch there were so many interpertations of the story it was kindda confusing to me. Well at least now that is over with. After being done with my essay I felt like a big waight was lifted off my back. Eventhough I had difficulty writting my essay I felt really good after I was done with it. I think the main part of my frustration was because I left it till last minute, but well at least that is over with. I did learn my lesson though because I tryed to tun my essay only one day late and when I went to the college to print out a copy of my rough draft because my printer had no ink the computer lab, library, and writter center were closed because it was late already plus I got soken wet running from one place to the other because it was pouring rain outside and freezing, but now I know not to leave things to last minute anymore. :)

Research Essay

I have finally decided to write my reasearch essay on the story, “Where Are You Going  Where Have You Been?” I really enjoyed reading the story so I would like to write about it. The reasearch paper seems kinda hard and boring but that is why I decided to write about the story that I enjoyed the most out of all the other ones. I think that writing about a story that I enjoyed is going to make the reasearch paper a little bit easy. The hardest part of the reasearch essay I consider to be the length of the essay. I really find it difficult to written an essay that is six pages long because I run out of ideas. The work cited page I consider is going to be easy but yet an extra thing to do. Even thought the essay seems to be hard and not as fun as all the other essays we have written in class, I am going to try to make the best out of it. I really hope my essay turns out to be good.

where are you where have you been

I thought the story “Where are you where have you been” was very interesting. After reading it I have decided to written my reasearch paper over this story. I have also decided to write about this story in a phsycolagicall approach. I really enjoyed the story and even though it was a little confusing at the end I ended up understanding the ending. I really believe that with this story I can do a good job in my reasearch paper especially because I enjoyed it, so that would make it more interesting for me to write about it. The story was actually my favorite story out of all the stories we have read in class so far. I could understand most of it plus it was written in understandable English.

Revelation

I found the  story “Revelation” to be a very  entertaining story. Even though it was wrong for the lady to judge and criticise people she didn’t even know, the story came out to be very interesting. I believe that everyone in this world often from time to time we all judge people aware of what we are doing even though we know that we have no right to judge everyone else. It was interesting how the narrator let us know exactly what was going on in  the lady’s mind. It felt almost to me  as if I was the lady because of what a good job the narrator did in describing the lady’s thoughts. I believe that the way the lady criticised everyone else was her own way of connecting with the people. I know that the lady’s judgment was really harsh  but to be honest I don’t judge her because we all have our unique way of being. Even though her way of being was kinda wrong that was her own personality or in other words her own uniqueness.

Drama Essay

I liked the fact that Mrs. Wood gave us an entire class period to have each other look at our drama essays to see in wich way we could help our essays get better. I think it was very cool for her to do that. I found it very helpful to get help and advice from more than one person to make my essay better and stronger. It really helped me out to hear all the different opinions from my classmates when it came time for me to do my final draft. They helped me realize where there were mistakes i had not even payed attention to at all before. Their help helped me do a better job in my final copy. Also I enjoyed helping out my classmates in return by giving them advice in their essays. I enjoyed very much helping them plus I enjoyed reading their essays as well. I found the essays to be very interesting and the class period seem to go by very fast because I was having such a great time reading over my classmates essays. It felt good getting help from them as well as helping them back in return.

“A Doll’s House” play

I really enjoyed reading the play, “A Doll’s House.” I believe the play was very interesting because it was written a long time ago and you could see throughout the play the many differences regarding what was not correct to do vs what was correct to do back then, compared to what is correct and what is not correct to do now days. I think the play had a very unique story to it especially because of the unexpected ending. I really did not expect for Nora to end up leaving at the end of the play, and not even to mention what a selfish attitude her husband took towards her after all she did for him. I really thought the play had a really different ending compared to many other stories were the couple loves each other because in most stories love ends up “winning,” and like I said in this play well the couple that loved each other at first ended splitting up. I really liked the play mostly because of how different it turned out to be compared to other stories. The ending was very different and sort of let me hanging wondering what happened to all the other characters, but that was the best part because it left a little for my imagination to make up.

“Othello”

I consider the play “Othello” to be a sad play. It is very sad that Othello kills his wife Desdemona at the end of the play. When I was reading the play I could picture the play almost as a soap opera, and well I love to watch soap operas so I liked the play. I am not going to lie the complicated English language that the play is written in, sometimes just left my mind blank so I had to read some parts over and over again until I understood the parts. Other than the language the entire play was very enjoyable to me. I found the play to be very interesting and it honestly did caught my attention. At the end I was even sad because I was so into the play that it kinda disappointed me that in a way Iago did get what he wanted because Othello killed Desdemona and himself.Despite the sad ending the play was very interesting to read.

Amado Pena

On September 30  we went to see Artist, Amado Pena as a class. It was very interesting hearing Pena talk about his life, his personal accomplishments, and his opportunities. I really enjoyed  and appreciate the opportunity of hearing a famous Artist talk about his own personal life. I found it pretty interesting when Pena said that when he was young his family was not wealthy at all, and that he could not possibly imagine him self in the position that he is now being the fact that he is a famous wealthy artist. It really made me think of the future and what kind of unexpected things it could bring to me. Hearing him talk about his opportunities made me realize that anything we desire is reachable as long as we try hard enough to reach it. Pena really inspired me making me realize that are dreams can be reached no matter how impossible they might seem. Also, I really liked his art work which was playing on the back ground the whole time Pena was talking, it was very nice. I thought it was pretty cool that the audience got the opportunity near the end to ask Pena some questions.

Movie “O” Othello

I believe the movie “O” was a very interesting movie. The movie was personally one of those movies I would watch just for the fun of it, and not only because I had to watch it. I enjoyed it because it was  a very modern version of “Othello” it was not one of those boring old movies that have rally dull colored scenes. The movie really helped me understand the play “Othello” because honestly even though I read the play, I did not fully understand all of it. Thanks to the movie I got the big idea of the play. The best part of watching the movie was that the language completely made sense to me unlike the play. It was honestly an enjoyable interesting movie. Even though the entire movie was not exactly like the play, the main idea of the movie was the same as the play’s main idea. In the movie Othello was a basket ball player in contrast to the play and Othello and Desdemona had different names and they were not married they were girlfriend and boyfriend, but it was basically the same idea. The movie did really represent the play as a whole.
